Keyboard Customization for Your Language
The Pit River keyboard customization is for both languages of the Pit River
Tribe, Achumawi (Ó tissi or 'Pit River') and Atsugewi ('Hat Creek').
The Wintu keyboard is for the Wintu language.
Installation
We use Keyman for our keyboard customizations. If you have not installed
Keyman, do so now:
- Go to https://keyman.com/windows/download.
- Scroll to the bottom, below the heading "Download Keyman nn.n
for Windows without any keyboards".
- Select the Download button.
- Open the Keyman install script and install the program in the usual
manner.
To install a keyboard:
- Download the package file.
For the Pit River keyboard, download pit_river.kmp.
For the Wintu keyboard, download wintu.kmp.
- Double-click that downloaded file. This launches the app to install
the keyboard.
- Click the Install button.
Use the Windows key + Spacebar to toggle between the standard keyboard
and the keyboard for your language.
If there are more than two keyboard choices when you do that, go to Settings
> Time & Language > Language & Region and delete
the languages associated with the unwanted keyboard choices. All you need
for this keyboard is the default input language, which is probably English
(United States).
